The Roman Road

The book of Romans is a letter written by Paul to the Christian believers who lived in Rome, Italy.

Today, his letter is part of the New Testament of the Bible.

The "Roman Road" in Biblical terms, are 5 verses from the book of Romans that clearly explain the Gospel (good news) of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Please memorize them so you will be ready to tell others about the hope you have!

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God had raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved."

Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Hope in the Midst of Economic Disaster

In the news these days, we are reading more and more of businesses that are either having layoffs, going bankrupt and/or closing down completely.

There are many factors that come into play here, but what comes to my mind is the following scripture from 1 Timothy 6:10 in which Paul writes, "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows".

Money is not the problem but the LOVE of money.

Much of the industrialized world is gluttonous for material things and power.

The Lord Jesus Christ tells us in Matthew 6:24, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

The way things are going, it looks to get worse before it gets better. Pretty sad but still, there is hope. Each day, every day, we make choices and we must live with the result of those choices: good or bad. Yes, the economy is getting worse BUT if we obey Proverbs 3 and put our trust in the LORD with all our heart, lean not to our own understanding and in all our ways acknowledge him, HE PROMISES to direct our paths.

When we obey God and follow His path, He turns problems into opportunities.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

TODAY, I hope you make the best choice and put your trust in the LORD Jesus Christ. Then read the Bible and obey it.

Is 'Soaking Prayer' Biblical?

Please scroll down for updates

Here are a few quotes regarding 'soaking prayer', something I used to do but not any longer.

Please prayerfully consider the following:

"In order to gauge whether or not soaking prayer is a valid form of prayer or communication to God, we must first look to God’s word. Prayer in its purest form is calling on the name of God and in every scriptural example is a done as a form of communication with the Lord. Although at first glance soaking prayer may seem that it follows this model of prayer it does not. Like most lies of the enemy a closer look will reveal a different picture. Soaking prayer involves a trance like meditative or contemplative state in which the adherent is encouraged to empty their mind. This type of prayer seeks to experience God’s presence through mystical exercises which teeters dangerously on the edge of the esoteric. As believers we understand that God’s presence is ever with us and when we come to prayer it is with His will in mind not ours." source

"Soaking Prayer is nothing more than contemplative / centering / listening prayer and is used for occult meditation. The Elijah List website sells a broad range of Soaking Prayer CDs, packaged as contemplative soaking, soaking worship, spontaneous worship, saturating, prophetic worship." source

"Soaking & being slain in the spirit are occult. There is a short answer and a long answer. The long one is given in True to His Ways. The short one is that it is Satan and his demons only who are at work in both yoga and Charismatic spirituality. We know this, because both are occult. The occult is Satan’s territory, and is where we meet with him and his demons. God simply cannot be found in the occult. Occultism is how Satan and his angels deceive, seduce, beguile, terrorize and defile their victims." source

"So how did Bentley purport to get into that secret place? He explains that in another session from the same conference in his message entitled, "Soaking." In that message he said that he began to practice "contemplative prayer" something he said he learned from studying the lives of mystics such as Brother Lawrence and an Indian mystic named Sundar Singh. He said that this silence launched his ministry after three months of soaking (meditating in an altered state of consciousness) culminated in a physical encounter with Jesus Christ who stood behind him and spoke to him audibly." source

Needless to say, soaking prayer is not something true Christians should be embrasing but rather, we should be renounce it.

blessings & love,
Cathy

1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
1 Corinthians 4

SEPTEMBER 19, 2014 UPDATE
Received the following email this morning from Jan - also added my reply:

Dear Cathy....I so appreciate your comments about soaking prayer. I too have repented and moved away from this and other elements of prayer ministries that do not match with scripture.

I was in a church where a locally renowned prayer minister joined our body via marriage. I have also been to other prayer ministries, and eventually came (with the Lord’s help through scripture) to my own “what-in-the-world-have-I-been-thinking?” moment. I have asked how I ever got “into” those ministries and have concluded that my flesh (I want to be as gifted and spiritual as those folks) was at play....although I never would have admitted all that at the time. Mixed in was also a desire to experience all God had for me. You may notice a theme of I’s, me’s, my’s.

To again go to the Lord without a special priest (prayer minister) is just what our Father ordered. I remember meditating on the verse in Psalms that says the Lord is a very present help in trouble. I kept wondering (as I traveled for work) why He said VERY. Present is present.....why VERY present?
When I could look it up, the very means vehemently present (no mystical experience required). He is THERE. Your blog was a reminder of that.

I do have a question about “discernments” some prayer ministers get.....and they seem to spread to others in training. I think the bottom line is that these things are not from the Holy Spirit, but I would appreciate any insight you may have. (By the way, you may find this question your blog comment section as well. Somehow I messed up the email address there so it doesn’t work.....hence, a longer version in your email.)

The woman at my former church “sees” what she calls discernments: one was a large snake crawling up her unclothed body that her husband had to make leave. She describes watching a demon “lumbering” up the stairs in her home; animals, etc. Her students then begin to see demons (even in Christians) such as prostitution...or other demons in a home or building. As these “gifts” accumulate, more and more are in awe of them....even elders. Some of these ministers do the praying FOR vulnerable believers.....and tell them the next steps the Lord wants them to take. Why not pray WITH people and mentor them biblically in prayer....so there won’t be a top-down priesthood thing?

Enough said. I would appreciate your input.

MY REPLY
Good morning, Jan,

Thank you for you email and kind words regarding my blog. Much of what I post is to raise awareness as well as help me to process everything I read and am learning.

These days, I pretty much avoid organized churches and ministers altogether even though I'm sure there are a few good ones out there... somewhere... maybe. Anyway, it's been quite the journey and the Lord Jesus Christ has been and continues to be faithful each step of the way, as you no doubt are experiencing.

I've had to repent of A LOT of unscriptural behavior as I traveled down some pretty bizarre roads. It came to a screeching halt in 2005 while living in Berlin, Germany, as a missionary with FIRE International, a ministry offshoot of Brownsville 'revival'. My story is on my blog but basically, I had been praying for the Lord to heal my heart and expose any lies I was believing. Then BAM! He opened my eyes to much of the deception all around me. It was shocking and it totally rocked my world but today, I am thankful.

Not sure how to answer your questions except if it's not in the Bible (preferable King James - not the New King James either) and you don't have peace about it, don't do it. My 2 cents.

blessings to you,

Cathy

"But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."
1 John 2:27

Behold the fowls of the air

Received an email today which talked about a possible coming catastrophe which would cause food shortages and possible panic. What do we do, if anything, to prepare for this?

Today, it is raining which is good since we need it and as I look out my window and watch the birds fly around, enjoying the bounty of bugs that float in the puddles, I am reminded of Matthew 6 in which the Lord tells us not to worry about what we shall eat because He feeds the birds and he will feed us.

Okay, Christians are to not worry but rather trust God. Are we doing this?

Back in 1999, when we were told to prepare for Y2K, I for one was not financially able to stock up food etc but when I took it to the Lord, I was reminded back then also of Matthew 6. And guess what? It all worked out just fine.

In the past as a single parent or as a missionary, whenever my material future looked grim, each time the Lord provided. And He continues to do so.

This is why I say, come what may, I put my trust in the Lord Jesus and if He leads me to prepare in some way, I will, otherwise I rest in His promises.

May the peace of God be yours through the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, Who promises to meet ALL our needs!

Matthew 6

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Helping the Unborn

A couple of times this week, I received an email suggesting I mail an empty envelope to President Obama with a note on the back saying, "This envelope represents one child who died in abortion. It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with conception."

Do we really think this will make a difference? Our former supposed pro-life president did nothing to stop abortion. In fact, it increased along with the diabolical stem research on aborted fetuses which increased during his reign of terror.

Obama/McCain/Bush/Kerry/Clinton/BushSr... both sides of the same corrupt coin.

Our only hope is found in the Lord Jesus Christ, not in a self-serving government run by compromised money/power hungry heathens who claim to be Christians.

Writing letters, emails or calling government leaders is a total waste of time. And those politicians with good intensions either get shut out or they get bought out and play the game.

Sorry to sound so blunt but this is how I see it. And as one who had an abortion (see My Pro-Choice Decision) which I totally regret, I so want to see the abortions to stop. But legislating it, if it were possible, isn't going to stop them. Sharing the Gospel with folks and praying for their salvation is the only hope we have for the unborn.

May God have mercy on us. We, the USA, are the terrorists as we slaughter countless unborn children daily across the land and help pay for the same in other nations. It is a painful plight...

Matthew 18
1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

Behold, He Cometh with Clouds

Revelation 1

3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Control Freaks

Yesterday, I spent some time with a friend who is struggling with letting go and trusting God for her family. Most of us battle this now and again, wouldn't you agree? We plainly see their problem and have the perfect solution. So why don't they listen to us??

Then this morning while reading through Acts, I found this interesting. After Peter heals a crippled man in Jerusalem and tells folks it was done in the name of Jesus Christ through faith in his name, he and John were taken by the local religious control freaks (Jewish priests, the captain of the temple and the Sadducees) and held overnight.

The next day when brought before the Jewish rulers, elders, scribes, Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander and the relatives of the high priest, Peter and John were asked, "By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?"

I love this next part! Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said, "Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

Stunned, the religious leaders said in private, "What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name."

So they commanded Peter and John not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. Amazing!

So what did Peter and John do? They said to them, "Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard."

And so, thankfully, Peter and John and all the other disciples have proclaimed the TRUTH of the Lord Jesus Christ no matter how they were threatened nor how they were treated even unto death. And for this, we all need to be very grateful!

Hebrews 13 says, "So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me" and I John 3 says, "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren".

A really great book about the early Christian martyrs is Foxes Book of Martyrs which can be read online here.

As hard as they try, no control freak will stop the message of the cross and the resurrection of Christ.

Repent

The Gospel message is simple and begins with one word: Repent.

Repent means to be sorry or have regret.

All of us have sinned and the payment of sin is death. BUT... the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God showed his love toward us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

TODAY if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved - whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. This is the Gospel message, the good news.

Be Not Faithless, But Believing

Matthew 17:20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

John 20

24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God.

29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Romans 10

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Galatians 3

22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The Alien Hype

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. John 18:36

Received an email today from an unknown source stating that Alex Jones says there is an above human government running things, that Barak Obama is an alien god and that this connects the "alien" dots between Alex, Mark Philips tranceformation of America and George Noory (Coast to Coast Am).

Yes, the Big Red Flag of warning comes out when the above names are mentioned as not one of them can be trusted. They, among others, are double agents/agents provocateur with the agenda among other things to misled folks and provoke Christians to fear, rage and violence with his 90% truth/10% lies.

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Matthew 24:4

QUOTE: Satan has devised the delusion that mankind is entering into an important evolutionary phase - a New Age. The push for "global enlightenment" has now extended to the vast reaches of the universe, into what could be deemed as a "space" religion. However, once this nebulous veil is lifted, a definite correlation emerges between the UFO/Alien phenomenon and occultic/satanic activity... These extra-terrestrials are nothing less than demons in alien's clothing. Grievously, many have and will succumb to this seductive aroma of pseudo-enlightenment (Mark 13:33). May we abide in Jesus, lest we partake in the abominations held within the mystery of iniquity (II Thessalonians 2:7-12). - Ron Patton (source)

May the Truth be revealed, may the lies be exposed may, may the deceived wakeup, may the sinner repent, may the lost get saved and may the Lord Jesus Christ be glorified I pray.

The Comforter

The Comforter comes reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgment. Here's what Jesus tells his disciples the night he was arrested:

John 16

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

THANK YOU, LORD JESUS FOR THE COMFORTER!
